Each year, District 204 holds a public hearing at a board of education meeting to address the district's tax levy request. This process allows taxes to be collected from new property developed in the district since the previous year. This year's hearing is scheduled for Monday, December 7, 2009 at 7:05 pm at the Crouse Education Center, 780 Shoreline Drive, Aurora.
It is anticipated that the district will receive an estimated 1 percent overall increase in taxes, primarily from new property. The district requests a larger increase than what is estimated to insure that taxes for all new property are collected. Therefore, this year's request is for 3 percent.
The average existing taxpayer in the district should see a 0.1 percent tax increase, which matches the Consumer Price Index.
Community members wishing to address the board at the public hearing may contact David Holm, Assistant Superintendent for Business, 780 Shoreline Drive, Aurora, IL, 60504 or phone 630-375-3070.
