I'm sorry, but yesterday I do believe I took some very personal shots - they were not general opinions. I said when I started posting here again I was going to be honest, and I have answered honestly to everything I've been asked. If the answers aren't what some want to hear, I am not sorry for that. Fair enough. I think everyone is starting a bit on edge with this anyway. Things are looking up and people are getting to be far more civil.

Thank you The main reason I am back here is to try and help that - believe it or not. I still think some changes can be made long before we open the school that could help - and want to work toward them. It is too late for me, but not for my area and 204 as a whole. I have no plans to leave here, I love my home and neighborhood.

What do you mean by that, Arch? What is it exactly that you want or you think is needed to "mend" things? Watts back in WV does it for me, personally (and many others) At the risk of making a different group of people upset? I don't think that anyone on this forum can help you with that. Anything that we can actually help with?

I've asked and I've counted from the families I know. Again, what are your numbers from Watts who like the idea of a shiny new school? And again, how many from Brooks don't like the idea of a shiny new school? Do you think DISTANCE may play a part in that or not? I think many Brooks area families that have had kids go through WV are not all that enamored with the idea of a shiny new school, but yes, closer helps. Those with younger kids are of course happy to have a closer and new school that won't be brand new anymore when their kids attend (seriously does anyone want to be the first ones starting up in a brand new building?).

Anything that we can actually help with? What's there to be upset about making a quick run up Eola to a shiny new school for Steck and McCarty? It's far closer and by many people's assertions, they should be happy and thrilled about it. The SB president sending his area there would be the right thing to do, IMO.

Not sure how you do that. Again, I never did understand completely why Steck didn't end up at Metea but McC I do, far more McC walks. They mostly are really just across the street.

I'm sorry, I believe it has been implied that a few of us hardly speak for our area - and we are somehow missing all the good I havent seen that. It seems like may of the posts here are eliciting negative repsonses from you. What is it that you want out of participating on this forum? just answered in the last post. Also if I was here to just ' be negative' I would not be participating in threads that have nothing to do with the situation. But WP- please try and understand that terms like ' shiny new school' elicit edgier responses due to the context of all that has happened. Calling anyone who doesn't like the new location a foc'r ( not you but some) - people telling others they can't read a ballot -when they know why they voted the way they did -- none of these things are going to elicit flowers and sunshine. For me personally rightnow it is a hard time - very hard due to the situation, so yes I likely read more into SOME posts then I should - again try and udnerstand why. So when I get poked with a stick, I am not going to be able to rise above - so to speak- right now. I know you are very happy with the new siatuation and never wanted BB. Seriosuly if it didn't affect me so drastically, I could be happy for you.

SB president didn't create the boundaries and where he lives, they are the walkers from Steck. I do believe the Steck issue had more to do with MS assignments, as far as I can tell. Arghh, I swore no more boundary discussions from me.

It would be good to see the actual bus costs for the 2 scenarios and do a real side by side for which way is cheaper year after year.

What do you mean by that, Arch? What is it exactly that you want or you think is needed to "mend" things? Watts back in WV does it for me, personally (and many others) arch and doc, I fully understand this desire. However, it cannot be done without both making more split MS's and ES's and having arbitrary line drawn through Steck and/or Mcc attendance area. One of those would perhaps be reason enough to go with the Watts/Cowl assignment to MV...but as I see it both of these being the fact was deemed too much of a burden for Steck and Mcc, and also entire 7th and Hill MS communities. I am afraid these negatives are just too much to overcome from district-wide point of view. And I am sorry. Instead, Watts and Cowl have a few extra miles and a few more stoplights to pass to get to HS. (and perhaps more overall transportation cost cost to district....I havent seen nor done the calc. I think its marginal change either way). Certainly it is not perfect. However our elected SB has determined that that your distance to high school was the lesser of evils. And given that nobody has defined a sensible and clear line that would be fair to Mcc and Steck, I have to say I agree with the SB. And furthermore, even if somebody could wave a magic wand and find the perfectly fair way for parts of Mcc and Steck to move to MV...I have strong hunch that the first communities to fill WV would be Owen W and Gombert East (edit..forgot E). (that is an academic question only, since there are no such thing as magic wands!)

I want what's best for my kids, which is what I think most want. I don't see how the kids in 204 are going to be severely damaged, no matter what site is selected.
Nothing wrong with that, or others wanting something out of it too that doesn't amount to being sent to the 3rd farthest MS and now the 3rd farthest HS, not to mention the concern many still have about the p!pelines.

Dr. Who's comment said the WP NEVER wanted BB and that is completely untrue. WP joined the old proboards the same day I did and supported it from that day, argued that BB was the better site. My guess, knowing WP as I do, that the importance of the 3rd high school far outweighs where it is and so if at anytime BB was purchased, he would have supported it.
