I grabbed this off of blue. Interesting information in here, not only about the sex offender issue, but pricing in Batavia, a new "specials" class offered by Sodexho, etc.

BATAVIA -- School Board members have extended Sodexho America's food-service contract for a second year, saying they are satisfied with how the company improved security after hiring a convicted sexual predator to work in two district schools.
"I'm confident the security measures in place now are effective," said board member Jack Hinterlong.
Last November, Sodexho hired Gary Gaspar through a temp agency to work in the kitchens at Batavia Middle School and Batavia High School.
School officials learned that the Elgin resident had been convicted of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in Wisconsin in 1989, and called Batavia police, who arrested Gaspar for illegally being on school premises.
After watching security videotapes of the kitchens and cafeterias, district officials said Gaspar had no contact with students during the three days he worked in the schools.
After the incident, Sodexho and the School District agreed that food-service workers would wear district identification badges as well as company badges; that the district would recheck all regular Sodexho workers' criminal background checks; and that no temporary worker would be allowed on school property until Assistant Building Director Leah Swanson had checked their backgrounds and received copies of their work records.
Under the new one-year contract, the district will pay 4 percent more for all Sodexho services, including full lunches, a la carte menu items and management fees. Board members did not discuss whether they will pass that cost hike on to students. If they do, students would pay about $2.14 for lunch, up from $2.05.
Sodexho will partner with the district to provide a fifth "special" class for elementary and middle school students this school year, Associate Superintendent Jan Wright said. The wellness and nutrition class will be offered alongside art, music, physical education and foreign language.
"This new special class will allow us to not only educate students about the food they eat, it will give them the chance to eat and learn more about different foods in the cafeteria," Wright said.
She will explain details of the new class at the Aug. 12 board meeting.
