The Cities of Aurora, Naperville and Plainfield are hosting a meeting regarding the proposed Canadian National Railway acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23 at Waubonsie Valley High School's Gold Campus, 1305 Long Grove Drive, Aurora. A formal presentation begins at 7 p.m. The goal of the event is to inform residents of the potential impact the acquisition may create, outline the Surface Transportation Board's process, explain the need for action, and educate residents on how to participate in the process and why local participation is so important. Indian Prairie does not see any benefit to the community from the proposed increase in railroad traffic and filed a letter in January with the Surface Transportation Board stating its firm opposition to the acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railroad by Canadian National Railway. For more information on the event, contact Karyn Robles, City of Naperville Transportation Team Leader, at 630-548-1133 or roblesk@naperville.il.us. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- School District 204 www.ipsd.org780 Shoreline Drive Aurora, IL 60504 USA
