Wrong. This started with the SB hiring a PR firm and using bad stats and scare tactics to get a referendum passed. I see....its the voters fault.

I didn't say they were "extraordinary". I simply was stating that the district and SB have done other things for the good of this district that some don't even want to acknowledge. They'd rather focus on what they didn't get, or how they got screwed in the process. How does that HELP the district? The SB has multiple issues to deal with and needs to move on. I think the rest of the district is doing so as well, minus a few that are stuck in this "blame the SB for everything" mode.

Give them and MM credit for that since he has been here long before the entitled crowd was even in #204. If the people on the blue board had gotten what they wanted you wouldn't have heard a peep. Their lawsuit which stated "BB or nothing" showed they didn't care about the kids in the district; only themselves. It is hard to defend people like that.

Great let's bring up the "entitled crowd" It is not even 10.00 a.m and some how I feel weary almost to the point of exhaustion. We cannot control what other people say or how they feel. Opinions are allowed but I have to agree, I wish we could drop the whole entitled thing. It is nonproductive. With the complaints over MV site, boundaries, and environmental issues coming from certain areas, it does become hard not to point fingers. On the other hand, I think the complaints would be just as loud if different decisions were made, just different areas making the noise. The school board had to make those decisions knowing that no matter what, they were going to make some areas unhappy. I guess that is why they get paid the big bucks.

Ah yes gatormom the glory and the high pay. And to think there is still almost a line of folks that want the job. While others stay the course sometimes for decades taking in all the accolades.
I have one question, why does the board members skin look just like mine. Is it some secret formula that is applied "day to day" to keep the criticism at bay. Whatever that formula is sign me up.

I apologize to all. I should have used better wording. I am tired of the continued ripping of the SB. I don't feel they deserve what has been thrown at them and certain people have been very unfair. Again I apologize.

No, but people keep pointing to a "small group" who don't agree with the SB when in fact more than half voted NO the first time, and only through bogus stats and scare tactics did the ref prevail the second time. This is not about 99% of D204 against NSFOC -- it is about the HALF of the district that is not happy.

To be sure there are a good number of people that are unhappy. I don't know if I would call it half the district. There are many people particularly in the North end who are happy with the outcome. But the vast majority I have spoken with over the past year just don't give a hoot. These are the people whose kids are staying at NV and WV. They are just happy their kids won't be moved and will be attending less crowded schools. The emotions in our areas are not carried over to other parts of the district.

The 1st time was more due to Howie and Co. saying "trust us" and not giving info. and it was over 50% of the district that voted wich IIRC was less than 30% of those eligible to vote.....hardly over 1/2 of the Dist. Like major said most don't give a hoot either way, and that is sad.

They will care when their tax bills explode.

They will care when their tax bills explode. When will that happen? After the next referendum?

Depending on the timing of the ref. I would guess it would be shortly thereafter. I just don't know if the word explode would be the correct word to use. The idea of an increase in the tax rate would have a better ring to it.

I think my taxes could easily be 15k (for a house worth approx 500k) in the next couple of years even without another referendum. The lower expected commercial revenue will throw more of an onus on residents. And as there may be fewer residents, with foreclosures rising, that makes our share even bigger.
