I'm sorry but anyone with an "axe to grind" will not get my vote unless they have something else to offer. I want someone who's positive and upbeat, someone who embraces the good things this district has to offer, but not one who runs lock step with the pack. I am not enamored with the current SB, and would sincerely like to see some new faces with fresh ideas. I want someone who has in their best interests the district, AS A WHOLE. I will not vote for a one issue candidate (no matter what that issue is). A one issue candidiate will not be an asset to the district if he/she gets into office as he/she will have nothing else to offer. I agree completely. Problem is, how do you know someone has an axe to grind or not? I doubt they are going to admit the only reason they are running for SB is this reason or that reason. I really believe people are going to be looking more at where candidates are from rather than listening to what they have to say. I think you are right GM, and it's actually very sad. There are good people all over the district. The very problem that has to be overcome by some is the perception generated by extremists from those same areas. In essence these few extremists have sullied their areas and put the prospective cadidates from those areas at a disadvantange. If they can pull themselves up from that disadvantage, that bodes well to me. The other problem I see is that past histories of a couple of the candidates categorizes them as those very extremists.

Stereotyping?
I think some of you are making incorrect assumptions. Personally, I am dismayed at the current boundaries (though I was not a part of NSFOC), but my main concern is fiscal accountability. If I had the choice of a candidate who promised to change the boundaries to my liking, but was fiscally liberal, and another candidate who wouldn't touch boundaries but promised to reign in spending, I would choose the latter in a heartbeat. I would venture to say many more people are concerned with the economy than with boundaries.

I don't think it is stereotyping. I know there are great people from those areas but I have no way to know what the ultimate goal of those candidates might be so I chose to vote against them. But if you wish to call it stereotyping, I can live with that.

Asmodeus,
You nailed it with regard to economic issues, as for boundaries, at first glance they are awkward at best. But upon a more thorough investigation there is a method to the current boundary situation.
I hope most can take an objective view regarding all the candidates no matter where they reside.

I see Macy is back on the blue board. I knew she couldn't keep away; not with the SB elections coming up. I just love those people. LOL Excellent

major,
I for one am going to make a New Year's resolution to not bring blue board people or topics over here onto green. It seems to be something that they allow over there which, to me, is disrespectful. Let's please respect any posters and their opinions, no matter where they post.
