Just went by the site. Lots of concrete mixers and additional heavy equipment onsite since last time I drove by. Huge progress since last week! I was in that area today dropping off my daughter at her friend's house. We saw 5 cememt mixers coming from there at one time and all kinds of other equipment. My son even noticed how busy it was. He can't wait until the walls "arrive". He wants to see them when they go up. So someone in that area let me know when they "arrive" ETA: Oh, after we left my friend's house which is right across from the the site, I had to take my daughter to the eye doctor which is at Rickert/75th area. It took me 12 minutes ( I kid you not!) to get from the site to her appt. Now, I realize that is in the middle of the day and I hit a good number of green lights, but we were so early, that we were able to drive through Wendy's and still make her appt. with time to spare. For anyone interested, I took Eola to Liberty to Commons to Ogden to Rickert. Got to Wendy's in 12 minutes. And there are days I can drive to downtown Chicago in less than 30 minutes - but the travel will not be the middle of the day for our kids or us, or in the summer now will it? If the traffic was that light and you made all the greens then you could have gotten to WVHS from here in 5 minutes... my rush hour drives have never been less than 26 minutes...best time, making as many lights as possible at that time - Also I would ue McCoy as to not have kids cross grade level tracks ( which we also know will be jammed in the near future as lwell - so Liberty will no longer be an option).

I have found that traffic has been very off and on this summer. Same time of day each day can literally sometimes take double the time to go from here to Westmont and back (for instance). Can't figure out the rhyme or reasoning for it.. it just 'is'.

I have found that traffic has been very off and on this summer. Same time of day each day can literally sometimes take double the time to go from here to Westmont and back (for instance). Can't figure out the rhyme or reasoning for it.. it just 'is'. some quick math tell me the 7.2 miles from my house (very close to Rickert-75th) to MV in 12 minutes means basically averaging 30 mph . Now that doesn't sound bad until you factor in you have to stop for lights and stop signs and factor that in, which at times can account for an equal amount of time. (also note all streets within Watts are 25mph and partolled regularly) - but hey I've seen all times of times quoted - fact is rush hour - non summer - twice that would be a good time- and 3-4 times that is also not out of the question in 'weather'. I had to drive into Oak brook yesterday for a biz meeting in the heavy rain - it is 14.1 miles door to door, a little less than twice the distance to MV from my home- it took me 75 minutes. Now there are days I can make it in 35-40 in a perfect scenario, especially in summer lighter traffic - but that is far from the norm, .

Have we all (and I mean all) gotten that out of our systems? Good. Back to our regularly scheduled discussion, site work.

Yes, sorry for replying to the diversion topic a Moderator added to her post with regards to travel times in a 'site work' thread... Mea Culpa. For what it is worth, Doc responded to the original "diversion" topic four days ago and that was the end of it. Additional off topic posts in this thread will be deleted. Back to site work. Anything exciting going on lately?

Can anyone answer with all of this rain we are having, will this slow things down or are they past the point where that matters?

I saw people out on the site the last few days, but it did not look like a lot was being done.
They delivered a large 4 trailer construction office that needs to be assembled.

the bug 4 part const. office is all put together. It looks like sewer/drainage work is going on (lots of concrete drainpipes. New fencing is up a big hole toward the front of the building footprint.

Because of all the rain, I was wondering if any of the foundation had been poured. I heard today from a reliable source that they have poured dozens of trucks worth of cement into the foundation at MV. It is just hard to tell from the road. So that is good news.

I understand some walls have been poured and the next 'hurdle' to stay on schedule is to have the steel walls installed by Mid-August. Maybe an update will be gievn at the 8/11 meeting

Other than yesterday, has it actually rained that much? I can't recall anything measurable for the past 2-3 weeks.

It looks like they have a bunch of storm drain pipes laying around too that should be going in at some point, if not already.
