MVHS bus arrived exactly on time at our stop, and kept on going without picking up my waiting student!! Are you kidding me? I just sent an e-mail to 204-Bus@ipsd.org about it. I'm concerned about what will happen after school, and tomorrow morning... It's a good thing I was available to drive to school and I hope all parents are this morning since they should be well aware that the transportation planning this year has been a total fiasco. The WV bus was here on time as well and picked up several students.

Our HS bus to WV, never showed, or was really early. My wife drove kids from the stop to school. A student at the stop, who lived in line of site of the stop (we dont) said she saw a bus, but it was 7 or 8 min ahead of the given pickup time. Cant be sure if that was the one for this stop or not.
Our MS bus to Still came, but was 6 or 7 minutes late.

My kids buses in north WE were both on time. My WV kids bus was completely packed though hers was the last stop. My Still kids stop was the first pickup on that route so is hard to say. At least they were both pretty much on time.

Kids all piled into cars and were driven. Concerned about after school and tomorrow.

I hope Karla's phone is ringing off the hook. There is no way routes should have been released 5 days before school. There should have been more time to iron out these kinks.

Just got an email saying the power is back on at NV Gold. Guess it went out in Period 3 and since they were on emergency power, they kept students in Period 3 for awhile. Looks like a great first day for students.

You know the old saying for the month of March, "In like a lion, out like a lamb." I feel this school year is starting like a lion. Let's just hope it finishes like a lamb.

And the lion's name is "Karla" - maybe she's an example of the "peter principle" in action. I still do not understand why the bus routes were taken from First Student. Maybe it's because Admin wanted more control over the process or the mistaken thought that they could do a better job.

But who made this decision and how did it get approved and how was it allowed to get to this point that it's the first day of school and things still aren't anywhere near what we usually have by then? Now there are thousands of kids in school today with some probably not certain how they're getting back home. I can't believe it.

And while the district can use their fancy "call you at all times of the day" service to tell us the french fries on today's menu have been changed to tater tots, I have not heard boo about whether there will be a bus to take my child home.

It really is sad when you think about the fact this was the ONE thing they had PLENTY of time to plan, as the boundaries have been set for over a year.

I am amazed. Our MVHS bus problem appears to be resolved already, and I had a good e-mail from Dave Holm this afternoon about it.
Also received this from the Brooks principal this afternoon:
Thanks to all of our families who attended our Meet & Greet this morning. It was great to have you here! As many of you know, we are continuing to try to problem-solve busing issues. We are working closely with all parties involved to find solutions. Thank you to those of you who have cc'd me on your contacts with Support Services about bus concerns. Our parents have been incredibly flexible and understanding as we work on these issues. I sincerely thank you for that. At this time we have two primary issues that we are monitoring and trying to problem-solve. They are: 1. Bus in the Blue Spruce area of Butterfield had no bus this morning. 2. Section of Stonebridge that had no bus service this morning. We have been in contact with each teacher this afternoon working to iron out confusion about which buses students ride home. If your child rose a bus to school today they are in good shape for returning home. If you drove your child to school today because there were bus issues, it may be wise to consider picking them up. Please call us at 630-375-3200 as soon as possible if you need to make last minute arrangements along those lines. We'll be in our office later than usual this afternoon working to ensure that all of our students have safely arrived home. In the event that you do not see your bus-riding child by 4:15 pm, please call us immediately.

We had buses drive by our last year's stop at least 4 times and yet they don't stop there anymore. We have to walk much further and cross more streets. What does that save? They are picking up the same number of kids and using the same amount of gas. It is safer for kids to be boarding buses closer to our homes. This is ridiculous.

My 9th grade at WV had a great day a school but said the bus rides were terrible both ways. There were as many as four to one seat. To make matters worse she was the last student on the bus at the last stop going to WV. The bus wouldn't leave until she sat down and there were already three and four to a seat. She said the ride home was just as bad. Karla Z better add an extra bus to both WE and TG.
